For those of us living in colder northern climates (particularly in the winter), a warm vacation feels like a serious luxury and escape. I do, however, find the extreme contrast in climates and even lifestyle which goes along with such a vacation to be almost surreal to the point that, upon returning home, we wonder if it really happened. Taken on the beach in Rincon, Puerto Rico.
Nice photographic series in this issue of Foam Magazine (#24), called Natura © Pablo Lopez Luz. Feels a bit like summer to me.
Curatorial practice has always been a point of fascination for me. I recently stumbled upon the blog
of Stephanie Gonot and was blown away by her images and assembly of things to create in many cases, very graphic and interesting expressions of art.
One image posted on her blog belongs to Thomas Prior. I love how the (soap?) islands in the puddle look so much like typography. Also the tones and space between the characters makes for a really beautiful image. For my type students, this is a great example of how natural forms can also create cohesion. These letters all look like they belong to the same typeface.
